In the drawing above of the old hall, it was originally a Farm House within Madeley village, as you can see from the pigs and pheasants in the front of the grounds.

 

When the Old Hall was built in 16thC it was built in the shape of a  cross because of the religious significance.

A charming 16th Century country house based on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border. This recently refurbished residence offers luxury accomodation with rooms full of character, this is the place to relax and unwind whether on business or pleasure.
 
The house is also only minutes walk away from the famous (at least in this area) Madeley Mill & Pool which can be strolled around in about 15 mins.

History
 
The house was built for one of the officers of the Crewe estate, John Offley, the priest hole famously housed the then to be Charles II as he hid from the roundheads in the 1600's.
 
Queen Margaret is believed to have stayed at the house in the Tudor period, probably around 1550 on her way to Eccleshall.
 
The house has two acres of well presented gardens and are a particular feature which can be enjoyed throughout the year
